Picks of the Week:

A Citrus Late Bloomer

Blood oranges are stars of the later citrus season, arriving in January and sticking around for just a few weeks. Lucky for us, they’ve landed at the market, courtesy of L’Hoste Citrus! These ruby-streaked gems are as stunning as they are flavorful—perfect for fresh-squeezed juice or pairing with chocolate for an indulgent treat.

RealCycle Drop-Off Update

RealCycle will continue accepting drop-offs at the Sunday City Park Market, but with some changes. Going forward, they’ll only collect food waste and metal recyclables—glass and cardboard will no longer be accepted. Thanks for doing your part to help save the planet!

Brrrrr… It’s Cold Out Here!

Arctic air is making its way to Louisiana this week, with the National Weather Service predicting "feels-like" temperatures near or below freezing. If you’re visiting the Tuesday Uptown Market tomorrow, don’t forget to bundle up with gloves, a hat, and a warm jacket. Meanwhile, we’re keeping our farmers with freeze-sensitive crops in mind and hoping for the best!

Looking for Volunteers

Still finalizing your New Year’s resolutions? Volunteering at your favorite farmers market, CCFM, is a great way to kick off the year! Spend time chatting about seasonal recipes, working alongside our staff, and welcoming shoppers.

Right now, we’re looking for volunteers to help count market attendees and conduct consumer behavior analysis. If you’re into numbers and statistics, this is a fun way to get a behind-the-scenes look at how we use data to improve our markets.

Vendor of the Week:

Buttery Spell

Meet Amanda and Nick, the self-proclaimed crazy geniuses of Buttery Spell! Buttery Spell was started in August 2020 during the height of the pandemic. While Amanda was home attempting to stay sane in the midst of all the stress and craziness, their very first nut butter, Milk Chocolate Pecan, was born. A year later, the compounds were introduced! The first compound butter made was Shrimp Butter, and it’s still around to this day. While it doesn’t have shrimp in it, it’s amazing on shrimp. Buttery Spell makes their gourmet nut and compound butters with love and intent, intentionally utilizing fresh ingredients and amazing flavor profiles with the goal of waking up your taste buds! Catch Buttery Spell at a Thursday or Sunday market and grab yourself something special!

Recipe of the Week:

Blood Orange Salad & Vinaigrette

With blood oranges hitting the market, this vibrant Blood Orange Salad & Vinaigrette is a quick, refreshing way to celebrate the season! Their sweet-tart flavor pairs perfectly with fresh greens and a zesty homemade dressing.
