Thursday Market Winter Hours

Fall back without missing a beet, and come shop with us Thursdays from 3 to 6 pm! This past Sunday, the clocks jumped back an hour with the end of Daylight Savings. With the loss of an hour of light in the evening, the Thursday Mid-City market will now operate within our winter hours of 3 to 6 pm, starting this week. We’ll return to the 3 to 7 pm schedule in March when Daylight Savings starts again and the days are longer.

Market Mommas Club is having a Meet Up!

Market Umbrella’s Market Mommas Club is having an in-market event on November 13, 2022. Join us for 10-minute yoga sessions at the top of every hour during the market. Program participants will also receive Infant Ready Emergency Kits, lactation cookies, and fresh snacks. Click here to view the flier!

Thanks to the generous support of LA Healthcare Connections, Market Umbrella provides qualifying mothers with $60 per month to spend at the market until the end of the calendar year. To enroll in the next cohort for our breastfeeding nutrition incentive program, you must be WIC or Medicaid-eligible and attend a lactation support class with one of our community partners. Season of Thanks: To Our Vendors

Vendors are integral to Crescent City Farmers Market; without vendors, there would be no farmers market! CCFM is a producer-only market, meaning that all the vendors you see produce what they sell at market. Vendors travel to New Orleans from a 200-mile radius to sell their fresh foods and value-added items at CCFM! Through the uncertainty of COVID and the destruction of Hurricane Ida, vendors continued to bring farm-fresh, small-scale, and local produce to consumers. Redeem your FMNP Voucher!

Reminder: November 30th, 2022 marks the last day to redeem WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) benefits this year! FMNP benefits can be spent directly with certified farmers––look for the yellow signs––to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey (not WIC FMNP eligible). Market Umbrella is offering a dollar for dollar match of FMNP benefits! If it's your first time shopping with your FMNP card, stop by the orange Welcome Tent at any of our CCFM locations to get your one-time FMNP match of $28!

Huckleberry Creamery

New product alert! You can now find yogurt, heavy cream, and creole cream cheese, a traditional New Orleans form of farmer's cheese, at Huckleberry Creamery’s table! Based in Franklinton, Louisiana, Huckleberry Creamery began operating in 2019 and has been producing a creamy array of goat cheeses, goat milk, soaps, and eggs ever since. Goat’s milk has often been sought out as a great alternative to cow’s milk as it contains less lactose, smaller fat globules, and is even richer in protein. It’s also delicious—making goat cheese a great addition to salads, pizza, pasta, or any dish. Find Huckleberry Creamery at our Sunday and Thursday markets, or any time you hear us mention baby goats!

This week, we have another mouth-watering recipe from Luke Sirinides of Gingerbooch, this time for a Gingerbooch Mule! Drink this fizzy drink to beat the remnants of summer heat or warm your spirits against the growing cold. No matter the weather, this beverage is sure to quench your thirst. For a non-alcoholic drink, substitute sparkling water in place of vodka! Follow this recipe to make a quick, fun cocktail or non-alcoholic mocktail!
