Picks of the Week:

Starting the Year Strong

As a non-profit organization, we depend on donations to continue our work. Fortunately, we have been able to expand our capacity in the past year, inviting new team members to help us fulfill our mission to cultivate the power of farmers markets to drive economic and community health in the region. While we are proud of the work we accomplished last year, we are equally excited to continue growing and sharing with the community. Donor support equips us to operate a variety of crucial local and state-wide programs that incubate small local businesses and support food access in our community. Thanks to our donors we raised over $11,400 during our end of year campaign, helping us start 2023 strong!

If you have donated to Market Umbrella’s end of year campaign, thank you SO MUCH! If you would still like to make a donation, you can visit our website or text CCFM to 44-321 to donate today!

Vendor of the Week:

Latino Snacks

Welcome, Latino Snacks! Latino Snacks joined the Thursday Mid-City market in December 2022, where they now offer a range of rich, flavor-packed Latin American snacks! Karen De Paz, Latino Snacks’ owner, wanted to combine snacks from Honduras and other countries to give New Orleans a taste of Latin America. A little over 2 years ago, her idea brought Latino Snacks to life! Some of the specialty snacks you can expect to find at market every week include Elote Loco (Crazy Corn), Tajadas, Mangonadas, and Honduran-style hot dogs topped with cabbage salad, jalapeños, homemade dressing, pickled onions, and more! Visit Latino Snacks’ storefront at 2317 Veterans Blvd in Kenner or come visit them at the Thursday market!

Recipe of the Week:

Seasoned Cauliflower Rice

This time of year, we can’t get enough of cauliflower! Roasted, pureed, even eaten raw–no matter how we eat it, this cruciferous veggie is the shining star of our plates! One of our favorite ways to prepare cauliflower is to rice it; once riced, you can steam it, fry it, or use it as the base of a bowl or a wrap! You can make cauliflower rice using a food processor, a cheese or box grater, a blender, or a knife and about 10 minutes. Give this recipe for seasoned cauliflower rice adapted from Love & Lemons a try!

What’s your favorite dish to make after visiting the Crescent City Farmers Market? Share your recipes with us on Instagram or Facebook and it might be featured in our weekly newsletter!
